Voltage Indicator Calibration

Specialised high voltage indicator calibration services

Voltage indicators are used to measure the battery or mains voltage of a circuit, although these can be standalone instruments measuring AC/DC voltage, some voltage indicator models allow the measurement of other units such as current and temperature. Voltage measurement is also a common requirement across a variety of industry sectors, meaning many multi-function devices like multimeters and electrical installation testers have voltage indication capabilities.

Voltage indicators are specified in terms of minimum (or threshold) and maximum voltage capabilities. Most of these products are classed as either standard or high voltage indicators, with high voltage generally accepted to be anything above 600v. Calibrationhouse as part of the Seaward Group benefits from 40 years of experience in design, manufacturing, and calibration of high voltage indicators. The Seaward KD1E series of high voltage indicators include neon, audio, and digital systems to confirm the presence of voltage on earthed neutral electrical circuits with maximum system voltage of 33kV between phases.

Owing to the high voltage required to calibrate some of the higher rated voltage indicators, onsite calibration is not feasible in most cases. Calibrationhouse through a specialised high voltage faraday test cage therefore offers high voltage indicator calibration services almost exclusively from its Durham based laboratory. We recommend a minimum period of 1 year between calibration of Seaward and other high voltage indicators, heavy use equipment may require more regular checks.
