Thermocouple Calibration

Precise thermocouple calibration services

Thermocouples are used in many different industries and form part of an overall temperature measurement system. A thermocouple consists of two different types of metals than when heated or cooled produces a specific voltage value that can be converted to give a temperature value. This conversion is usually done at the digital temperature indicator, more commonly known as a thermometer.

Calibration of thermocouples is a complex procedure and requires the use of liquid baths along with monitoring of the voltage response of a thermocouple as the temperature of the bath changes. Calibrationhouse has the capability to test all types of common thermocouples including J, K, T and E. Within these different types, K Type thermocouples (often referred to as ‘general purpose thermocouples’) are the most used across industry due to their value for money and wide temperature range of -200ᵒC to +1372ᵒC.

In order to calibrate thermocouples in line with customer requirements we usually ask for a temperature profile or max/min values in order to calibrate at the exact values that are used in their application.
