A voltage stick, voltage indicator, or detector is a non-contact voltage tester which provides real time indication of the presence of voltage in cables, circuits, and power sockets. Roughly around the size of a standard ballpoint pen the instruments provide a visible or audible indication to the user if voltage is detected. Voltage sticks are designed to be safety critical tools used extensively by electrical contractors as a means to provide safe and real time indication of voltage within electrical circuits in a variety of applications and sectors.
Calibrationhouse as part of the Seaward Group benefits from over 40 years of experience in the design, manufacture, and calibration of voltage indication instrumentation. The variety of voltage indicators available often makes it difficult to select the right instrument, it is key that the unit is rated for the correct voltage range being tested and also verified regularly by a live voltage carrier or approved proving unit.
Despite the fact most of these units do not actually measure voltage they simply indicate the presence of voltage, you cannot ignore the need for regular external calibration. It is easy to fall into the trap thinking that regular verification with a voltage proving unit is sufficient, but this should be classed as an addition to annual calibration not as a replacement for it. What if the voltage proving unit is no longer working within manufacturer specification for example?
Calibrationhouse offers a complete voltage stick calibration service, which is available onsite at customer premises or via our repaid turnaround laboratory based service. The service generally includes calibration or verification of the voltage stick and proving unit as a pair.
Our team of expert technicians are on hand to help you with any queries you have about calibration, servicing or repair.
