Power supplies are not chargers, adapters or other standard devices used to power electrical equipment, they are specific electrical test instruments that allow technicians to have a reliable source of power that can operate at different voltages or currents. Power supplies are used extensively in general research laboratory environments as they are a useful tool for testing electrical circuits, they are also versatile in terms of range, features, costs, and specified accuracy.
There are two main types of power supplies available today: linear power supplies and switch mode power supplies, but because of advantages in terms of accuracy and reliability the majority of users prefer to use the switch mode option. For several decades, power supplies have been a key tool in engineers tool kits and to help prove their design concept, understand issues with the concept and ultimately ensure end product quality.
Calibrationhouse as part of the Seaward Group is backed by over 40 years of experience in the design, manufacture, and calibration of electrical test equipment. Power supplies have been integral during design and development phases of our instruments and we have extensive knowledge of these devices. When it comes to the generation of power there are 4 units of measurement that need to be considered: voltage, current, power and resistance.
Calibrationhouse is well versed in generation and measuring of these electrical units and boasts a wide range of capabilities, including UKAS certification to certain parameters. A comprehensive power supply calibration service is available onsite or through our rapid turnaround laboratory service.
