A caliper or technically pair of calipers is a measurement tool that is used to measure the length between opposites of a specific object. Calipers are used across a wide variety of industries from metalworking to mechanical engineering and science.
There are many different types of calipers available today, all with their different features and benefits. The following list outlines the products that are seen within the Calibrationhouse lab on a regular basis:
Calipers are robust instruments, which historically do not see much drift in measurement over time, heavy usage and industrial environments can however see accuracy of measurements drift over time. Leading manufacturers of calipers such as Mitutoyo recommends that a 1 year interval is sufficient, but ultimately it is up to the user to determine calibration periods based on level of usage or operational environment considerations.
Both onsite caliper calibration and laboratory based caliper calibration services are available from Calibrationhouse. The level of calibration offered will be traceable to national standards as a minimum.
