Audiometer Calibration
High quality audiometer calibration services
The audiometer calibration service provided by Calibrationhouse is our latest service offering, launched in December 2014 this service builds on our wide range of calibration services that are already used within the NHS and private healthcare sector.
The audiometer is an extremely important piece of equipment for audiologists, allowing them to accurately measure patients hearing. Audiometers measure a patients hearing at different frequencies, these measurements ultimately decide what course of treatment or hearing aid would be best suited to their particular condition. The accuracy of the measurements taken are of paramount importance, wrong information can lead to wrong diagnosis or fitting of the wrong hearing aid. Periodic calibration traceable to national standards is therefore necessary to ensure accuracy of measurement.
Calibrationhouse recommends audiometers are calibrated periodically at least once a year, but a more regular calibration maybe beneficial when the device is used extensively. The audiometer calibration service is available at our laboratory in Peterlee and is also offered as part of our onsite service, meaning equipment is calibrated on your premises by one of highly trained field engineers.
Calibration of an audiometer is a technical process requiring adherence to the relevant standards and using the following equipment for test purposes:
- Artifical Ear
- Microphone
- Sound Calibrator
- Type One Sound Level Meter
- Octave Filter Set
- Appropriate Connection Leads/Adaptors
*UKAS accredited calibration available on certain parameters
